Mercer Kitchen

Located in SoHo's Mercer Hotel, Mercer Kitchen is about American Provencal cuisine from the great chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Located on two levels, the open kitchen and some communal tables add to the casual and relaxed atmosphere. So much of his food reflects the traditions and ingredients from the Far East and his menu captures his instinct for flavor and texture combinations. Sample entrees include the Sautéed Black Bass with sweet potato ravioli and aromatic spice broth; Breast and Confit of Duck with pomegranate, pistachios, and preserved lemon wild rice; a New York Strip with gingered shiitake mushrooms and caramel soy infused sauce, with French fries; and the Niman Ranch Cheeseburger on a toasted brioche roll, with French fries. There is an interesting Raw Bar as well as a host of Pizza selections. Desserts are special and include the Valrhona Chocolate Cake with cocoa brittle and toffee crunch ice cream.
